Shania is a quiet young girl who lives with her parents and two sisters in a home with no running water or electricity, in a small village outside of Lilongwe, Malawi. Shania has cerebral palsy and relies on her mother for most daily tasks. Shania’s father works hard in construction, but his income is unstable and insufficient to provide for the family’s needs. Life is an ongoing struggle for Shania and her family.
Education for children with specialized needs is a great privilege in Malawi, as most schools do not have the resources to accommodate them. Shania enjoys playing, and singing with her friends and pink is her favourite colour.
